Windows Vista Retail & OEM?
I’m building a computer, I’ve looked at all the parts and they are Vista compatible. My only problems is the OS itself.
I’ve looked at all the other questions of people buying retail and OEM and I’d like one thing clarified. OEM: I know you can only install on one computer only, doesn’t come with support/manual, and lives and dies with one computer. I would like to know more about the retail though. I’m not sure if I’m correct but I can install Windows Vista Premium-Retail into 3 different computers at the same time? It comes with 3 license codes? Also this is probably just a matter of opinion but would you buy Vista that includes the SP1 or not? I don’t think I should since I could probably install it myself. Save myself 10 dollars.
If you’d like to say “Don’t buy Vista, go XP.” I’ve already read a ton of those in the other people asking this sort of question. So please don’t.
To my knowledge, retail version is still 1 license 1 computer. but the license doesn’t live and die with the computer. You can transfer the license to another computer, but be sure there’s only one instance that is installed.
It would also be better to buy a Vista that is already slipstreamed with SP1. That will save you a lot of updating time.
