What would be the advantage or disadvantage of going to a college school rather than a university?
its like im really confuse about college and university on what is better on them or what will i get if im going to go to one of it. pls help!!
im actually in the Phillipines.
In the U.S., a college usually focuses entirely on undergraduate education and has smaller classes. Students may receive more individual attention from professors, have greater access to professors, be taught directly by professors (rather than teaching assistants) even in fairly large courses, and in general enjoy their education as the center of and sole reason for the school’s educational mission. A few colleges do offer some graduate programs, but for the most part, they are all about educating undergraduates.
However, there are some universities where the classes are not enormous and where students also have much access to professors. Moreover, the presence of graduate programs and professional schools at universities contributes greatly to the intellectual life of a university and can therefore affect the quality of the undergraduates’ education as well.
The quality of both colleges and universities varies widely. I happen to think that a university experience is, in general, superior, but you can get a truly excellent education at some of the top colleges in this country.
