is it possible to reinstall the operating system of a laptop using USB external DVD drive?
Yes. It depends on your BIOS. If you have plugged in your USB DVD drive during boot up but your laptop did not detect it, then you have to change your BIOS boot up order settings.
To change your BIOS settings, either press F2 or Delete during start up. Once enter the screen, you should be able to see the boot order.
