Will the Harry Potter story be the preferred religion in the 40th century?
I can see this happening. First of all, no one in 2000 years will know whether or not the harry potter stories are true or false. Also, they are much easier to read than the bible (no Billy Bob 34:23-83-13.5 verses to deal with), kids will have fun reading them, and they will still most likely be in print.
So if someone puts all of the books in a time capsule with a note saying “Believe in this crap or Dumbledore will haunt you for all eternity because he is watching you know”, and they carved some text from the books into a big rock, I bet people will believe in Harryology for many years to come. Do you think it will happen?
I imagine that by then genetic engineering will allow an average increase of 50 points on the IQ scale will pretty much return religion to what it should be, caring for others and the rejection of fantasy and beliefs.
The Potter series is a delightful story but like all belief systems it has no way of verifying itself.
