Up for discussion, after an International should league football be suspended the following weekend?
This coming Saturday sees the first Old Firm match in Scotland, my office colleague who is so blue he is hypothermic, whereas I am Celtic through and through, do agree on one thing; suspend the league fixtures.
I understand many supporters of clubs not represented at national level would disagree, but would it be better to suspend the fixtures for the week? Or even play them midweek?
Cogent arguments for and against; rather than rabid bellowings of “you want it all your own way” are invited.
Two games a week, in Autumn, used to be par for the course in the 70s, with the League, the League Cup, UEFA Cup, Cup Winners Cup, European Cup and Internationals all on the go.
I thought players were meant to be super-fit these days?
