How much space we require to create a disk image from a Hard disk containing data around 120 GB ?
I want to create disk image for all of my data near about 120 GB ? But i m not sure about the space required to create disc image ? Does it compress the data or required equal space ?
If you are doing a bit by bit image it would require 120Gig to image a 120Gig drive. In general bit by bit images are not necessary.
If you are not doing a bit by bit image it depends on the amount of data on the drive. Select the drive you want to image and view how much used spaced there is. The max the image should take up should be no more than the amount of used space there is. When doing an image chances are you will be doing compression which can often cut the amount of space used in 1/3 but it varies greatly on how the disk is being imaged and the type of data on the drive.
