Listen, downloading “freeware” is dangerous. I know you do not want to hear this, but downloading freeware is risky at best if you are not really familiar with the company or person who is offering out “free” stuff. Nothing is really free, often these “free” things have, at the least, spyware attached which will report back your computer usage habits, and will give you viruses, keyloggers, worms, trojans, and could even have a hostile take over remotely of your computer.
Anytime you download anything from the net use a good Security Suite to do a quick scan of the file before you open and install it. This is very easily done by right clickint the folder and chosing “scan with X” replace X with the name of your antivirus solution.
Downloading and installing unkown software is very dangerous and can kill your computer. In fact right now a horrid virus is being delivered via Yahooo Instand Messenger by sending itself to others Instant Messenger with a so called “Safety Browser” which is not safe at all and will take over your entire system and drive you crazy. Here you will see how easy it is to get something horrid in your computer with little effort on your part at all.
Good luck and just beware free stuff out on the web. It really is dangerous unless you are completely sure of who it is and what it will do. There are also those who would happily give you sites to go to which will really harm your computer. They think it is funny to do stuff like that, why I haven’t a clue, but it is just true anyway.
